About SpeechWorks 4 Kids!
Pediatric Speech Therapy Practice

Erica Gale is a New York State licensed speech-language pathologist. Erica has received her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She also holds a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) license.

Erica has worked extensively with a Long Island, New York Special Olympics chapter, and later volunteered with the United Cerebral Palsy Association. These influential experiences helped Erica discover her passion for Pediatric Speech Pathology. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York. She later received her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from CUNY Hunter College. Erica currently works as a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist at the Mount Saint Ursula Speech Center and coordinates the local Reading is Fundamental program. This program affords children the opportunity to receive their very own books to promote literacy, motivate children to read, and foster family involvement in their children's education.

Erica Gale has clinical expertise in apraxia, articulation, augmentative communication, autism, feeding and swallowing therapy, fluency, language delays, language disorders, literacy, phonology, and voice. Her background in pediatric speech therapy includes comprehensive experience working in both private and public schools, as well as outpatient clinics. Erica currently works with toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children with a variety of speech and language difficulties.

Speech therapy is most successful when a partnership is formed between the speech therapist and the parents. Erica provides parents with easy strategies that they can use to reinforce what is learned during their child's sessions. She believes play is a "child's work." Games, bubbles, dramatic play, art, and literature are the creative tools she employs to assist children in attaining their goals in a fun and meaningful way. This Spring, Erica will be participating in an upcoming Pediatric Speech Therapy lecture series for parents. She will be discussing the importance of play, and demonstrating how play can foster early language development in children.

Erica stays current on the latest research and techniques in the field of speech and language development by attending workshops and seminars. Seminars on lisps, persistent articulation errors, feeding therapy, and behavior management strategies for children with autism are a few of the more recent educational programs that Erica has attended.
